GERRY CVITANOVICH, M.D.

Dr. Gerry Cvitanovich is a 1978 graduate of Jesuit High School. In 1982, he earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from Tulane University and went on to attend Medical School at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Upon receiving his Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Cvitanovich completed a Family Practice Residency at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge and became board-certified in Family Practice. He began his career as an Emergency Physician for EMSA Limited Partnership in May 1989. He also worked as a Ship's Physician for Norwegian Cruise Line and American Hawaii Cruise Line.
 
In 1992, Dr. Cvitanovich joined the Emergency Department staff at East Jefferson General Hospital. In addition to working in the ER, he served as Medical Director of East Jefferson General Hospital’s Wound Center from 2002 to 2007, as well as three terms on the EJ Hospital Medical Executive Committee. In 2002, Cvitanovich founded East Jefferson After Hours Urgent Care Centers and in 2005 he co-founded Millennium Healthcare/MHM Urgent Care. In 2010, Dr. Cvitanovich served on the Physician's Advisory Board of the Joint Commission (JCAHO). In 2017, Dr Cvitanovich and his partners sold Millennium/MHM to Ochsner Health, and he currently has a part-time job with Ochsner as Chief Strategy Officer for Urgent Care and Occupational Health. Dr. Cvitanovich has also served three terms on the Board of Directors of the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau. 
Dr Cvitanovich was appointed as a Deputy Coroner in 2008 by Dr Robert Treuting, and he was subsequently elected to be Coroner of Jefferson Parish for the term beginning in March 2012. He was re-elected in 2015 and 2019. In 2021, Dr Cvitanovich was elected to be President of the Louisiana State Coroner’s Association. 
 
Gerry and his brother Tommy were born in Vancouver, Canada to Croatian-immigrant parents. After his parent’s 14 year wait, the family was granted a visa to enter the United States when Gerry and Tommy were 2 and 3 years old. The family founded Drago's Seafood Restaurant in 1969, and Drago’s now has six locations. Dr. Gerry and his wife Heidi, live in Metairie and they have four children; Maya, Caroline, Kacie and Drago.

WILLIAM "BEAU" CLARK, M.D.

Dr. William “Beau” Clark is a native of Baton Rouge and graduated from St. Michael the Archangel High School. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University where he received his Bachelor of Science. He graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine in Baton Rouge.  He is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

 

Dr. Clark was elected East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner in November, 2011 and continues to practice emergency medicine in the Greater Baton Rouge area.

 

Dr. Clark has served as Medical Director for the Louisiana State Police SWAT Team, Louisiana House of Representatives, Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team. Dr. Clark has been certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators.

1ST VICE PRESIDENT

JOHN KING, M.D.

LAFOURCHE PARISH CORONER

Dr. John C. King, born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama, is a 1976 graduate of Emma Sanson High School. He then attended Marion Military Institute, in which his associate’s degree was obtained. Dr. King earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Birmingham Southern College. He attended St. George’s University School of Medicine, and finished at University of Alabama Internal Medicine Program and became Board Certified in Internal Medicine.  He began his career in Pulmonary Critical Care at LSU-Ochsner and became Associate of American Pulmonary Critical Care Board of Medicine. In 1992, he was awarded the Dupont Young Investigator Award for his Acute Lung Injury Research with LSU. 

In 1992, Dr. King began his work with Chabert Medical Center in Houma, La until 2008. Also in 2008, he founded Thibodaux Urgent Care where he was the Medical Director for 13 years. He co-founded Millennium Healthcare/MHM Urgent Care. Dr. King and his partners, in 2010, led their Urgent Care facilities to be the first non-hospital urgent care to be certified by the Joint Commission (JCAHO) in the USA. In 2017, Dr. King and his partners sold Millenium Healthcare/MHM. He is currently continuing his Pulmonary Critical Care Practice, where he serves several hospitals in South Louisiana.  
 

Dr. King was appointed as Deputy Coroner of Lafourche Parish by Dr. Coleridge Franklin in early 2007, and was elected as Coroner on March 31st of 2008 via special election. He was successfully re-elected as Coroner in 2010, 2012, 2015, and in 2019. During Dr. King’s tenure, he and his staff, including Mark Goldman (retired), Jamie Folse and Angie Matherne, positively transformed and developed effective services that impacted residents. 
 

As a member of the Coroner’s Association, Dr. King has truly enjoyed getting to know and learning from his cohorts. He has the utmost respect for his fellow Coroner’s associates for assisting with positively influencing Lafourche Parish.

DON SMITH

BIENVILLE PARISH CORONER

Don was raised from an early age in Bienville Parish.  He graduated from Gibsland High School in 1964 and has remained in Bienville Parish except for a short time when he lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Mr. Smith went to work for the Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Department in 1980 and retired after 22 years in 2002. During his service with the sheriff’s office, he held the position as a deputy sheriff and the Communication’s Supervisor.  In July 2004 he was appointed to fill the Bienville Coroner’s position until a special election could be held and has served in that position to date.  Mr. Smith has served in many community organizations including the Arcadia Jaycees, the Arcadia Lions Club, and the Arcadia/Bienville Parish Chamber of Commerce.  He also serves on or has served on several state boards including; NENA President (National Emergency Numbering Association), APCO, State of Louisiana Coroner’s Association Vice President, Past President of the Arcadia/Bienville Chamber of Commerce and a current member of the board directors. Don was an integral part of setting up the Emergency 911 system in Bienville Parish and still serves as the 911 Coordinator for the parish. Don has the ability to work in unpleasant situations and stressful conditions. Ability to coordinate activities with law enforcement teams and hospital staff. He is mentally and physical strong to endure stress involved in the job as coroner.

SECRETARY / TREASURER

TIM GENEVAY, D-ABMDI

JEFFERSON PARISH FORENSIC CENTER, DIRECTOR OF FORENSIC OPERATIONS

Tim was born and raised in Jefferson Parish and graduated from Jesuit High School in New Orleans.  He then graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2004.  After graduation Tim began working as a paramedic for the City of New Orleans and then later for West Jefferson Medical Center.  In March of 2013 Tim transitioned his career and signed on with the Jefferson Parish Corner’s Office as a forensic investigator.  In addition to retaining his National certifications as a Paramedic, Tim has also obtained Diplomate certification with the American Board of Medicolegal Investigations.  In March of 2021 Tim was promoted to the Director of Forensic Operations at the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office, where he oversees multiple departments within the organization.  
Tim currently lives in Madisonville, LA with his wife, Heather and 2 young daughters, London and Harper.
